Inspirational Tunes for You, Fellow BAMF

It’s 6:00 AM, your alarm is screaming at you because it doesn’t realize you were up until 2:30 AM dealing with your latest round of self-doubt and anxiety. To say you need some motivation is an understatement.

Or maybe you’re getting ready for a date with a dude/dudette that COULD BE THE ONE, and you need some MAJOR confidence injections.

Or you’re on your way to the job interview of a LIFETIME, and Shia LaBeouf isn’t cutting it anymore.

Or maybe you just want to feel like the badass motherfucker you really are.

In any case, you need some inspiration and motivation to get your ass in gear. You’re amazing, and once you start acting like it, the world is going to wake the fuck up and take note.

To help you, I have created a playlist full of inspirational tunes that get me in the mood to KICK ASS AND TAKE NAMES.

So get out of bed, take a deep breath, and rock the fuck out.

Glen Hansard – Take the Heartland

This originally appeared on the Hunger Games soundtrack, and with good reason. If you’re not an HG fan, don’t let that throw you off. Hansard’s desperate (in a good way) vocals and lyrics that call for the revolution are sure to get you through your first meeting of the day.

Beyonce – Diva

Ok, look. I’ve got loads of punk rock street cred, but I can’t listen to this song without slow-mo walking into work like I own the fucking place. Diva is a female version of a hustler… PREACH Bey. PREACH.

Veruca Salt – Volcano Girls

It’s loud. It’s 90s. Scream along in the car when everyone around is looking. Make them jealous.

Air – Dead Bodies

Doing something physical? Put this in your ears. I guarantee your heart will be pumping 10 seconds in. Also good for driving home after a rough night of drinking and/or arguing.

Santigold – Creator

Whenever I’m having a hard time writing, or being creative in general, I put this on. Santigold knows what’s up. We’re all creators, it’s just what we create that’s different.

Jack White – I’m Shakin

Doll/Handsome yourself up and get it in your head that you are HAWT. This song helps with that.

Le Tigre – TKO

Kathleen Hanna was girl power before anyone knew what girl power was. When the oppressive patriarchy has you down, turn this badgirl on and remember that we’re all in this together, fighting the good fight.

Dead Boys – Sonic Reducer

I’ll be your bearer soon, love on some cotton doom
Things will be different then, the sun will rise from here
Then I’ll be ten feet tall, then you’ll be nothing at all
I got my time machine, got my electronic dream

‘Nuff said.
